ZEV registrations up 22 per cent in Q3 over Q2, says new StatsCan data

In Q3 2023, new zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) registrations in Canada reached a record high, accounting for 12.1% of the market share, according to Statistics Canada. This marks a significant increase from the previous quarter's share of 9.9% and an even greater jump from the first quarter's 8.6%. The 22.2% increase in market share represents one of the largest quarterly leaps observed in Canada's ZEV market. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) constituted the majority of new ZEV registrations, making up 76.0% of the total, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) accounted for the remaining 24.0%. This data underscores the growing popularity and adoption of ZEVs in Canada, reflecting increasing consumer interest in electric vehicles and the ongoing transition towards sustainable transportation solutions.
