What to know before buying a used electric vehicle

With rising gas prices, drivers are considering switching to electric vehicles (EVs), and CAA notes a growing market for used EVs. A CAA study revealed that approximately 16% of EV owners in Ontario opted for used vehicles. This trend aligns with the Canadian government's recent mandate to boost EV supply, compelling auto importers and manufacturers to meet sales quotas for electric or zero-emission vehicles. CAA recommends hybrid electric vehicles for those hesitant to transition from gas-powered cars to EVs, offering a compromise amid the shifting automotive landscape. The lifespan of an electric vehicle (EV) typically ranges from 10 to 20 years, with battery life being a crucial factor. While most EV batteries come with warranties lasting around eight years, on average, they should last at least 10 years. However, it's essential to consider that EV batteries, like many others, perform less efficiently in colder temperatures, resulting in longer charging times during winter weather conditions.
