PowerON, Billy Bishop Airport team up for EV charging solution

PowerON Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Ontario Power Generation (OPG), played a pivotal role in bringing electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure to Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport to support its forthcoming fleet of six Vicinity Lightning electric shuttle buses, set to arrive in 2024. This turnkey charging solution was meticulously crafted, constructed, and overseen by PowerON, demonstrating their expertise in zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) charging solutions. Keegan Tully, Managing Director at OPG, expressed pride in the project's successful completion ahead of schedule and under budget, attributing its success to the dedication and collaboration of the PowerON team and their partners. The initiative aligns with OPG's broader vision of electrifying life within a generation. The electric shuttles, to be operated by Nieuport Aviation, will facilitate emissions-free transportation between the airport and Union Station in downtown Toronto. Expected to eliminate 2,100 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually, the project represents a significant step towards sustainable transportation solutions in the region.
