Plug and charge solution planned in ChargeHub, Irdeto partnership

ChargeHub, based in Kirkland, Quebec, has formed a strategic partnership with cybersecurity specialists Irdeto, headquartered in Amsterdam, to enhance the EV charging experience. Through this collaboration, Irdeto's CrossCharge and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) tools will be integrated with ChargeHub's eRoaming interoperability Passport Hub platform. This integration aims to simplify the EV charging process for Passport Hub users by introducing a plug and charge solution. In a plug and charge system, EV users connect their vehicles to the charging cable, after which verification, activation, and payment occur automatically. ChargeHub is pioneering this technology in North America, being the first company to test a plug and charge solution utilizing Irdeto's CrossCharge. CrossCharge facilitates various services, including the creation, distribution, discovery, validation, and revocation of vehicle identities and charging contracts, thereby enhancing security and interoperability in EV charging networks.
