Petro-Canada has implemented a substantial change in its Electric Highway charging system, opting for a uniform flat rate across Canada. The standard EV charging fee is now set at $0.50 per minute, as stated on the Petro-Canada website, eliminating the previous practice of varying rates by province. The revised policy reads, "When you join us along Canada’s Electric HighwayTM, pay $0.50 per minute while you charge, with no connection or idling fees." This marks a considerable increase from the earlier province-specific rates, ranging from $0.25 per minute in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to $0.33 per minute in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. British Columbia previously had a rate of $0.27 per minute. The move to a nationwide flat rate simplifies the billing structure but represents a notable cost increase for electric vehicle owners who were accustomed to region-specific pricing on Petro-Canada's Electric Highway.
