Parkland to deploy 2,000 DC fast chargers with $210-million CIB loan



Transit Cape Breton, serving Sydney, N.S., is set to introduce electric buses to Cape Breton Island's stunning landscape with $54 million in funding from three levels of government. The investment will facilitate the purchase of six electric buses, installation of charging infrastructure, and refurbishment of the bus maintenance depot. John White, MLA for Glace Bay-Dominion, emphasized the significance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Nova Scotia's transportation sector. Although the initial purchase involves a small number of buses, Transit Cape Breton's long-term plan aims to transition its fleet to 44 electric buses, achieving net-zero emissions by 2030. This phased adoption underscores the commitment to sustainable transportation and environmental stewardship in Cape Breton Island's transit system.
