Nine Alberta transit authorities selected to study zero-emission buses

Nine transit authorities in Alberta are joining forces in a new initiative led by the Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) and FortisAlberta to explore the procurement and implementation of zero-emission buses. Named the Alberta Municipality Constellation project, it aims to evaluate the economic, technical, and environmental aspects of transitioning to zero-emission buses. The project, funded by the federal government and FortisAlberta, seeks to address the evolving energy needs of participating regions while promoting sustainable transportation. Josipa Petrunić, president and CEO of CUTRIC, expressed confidence that the project's findings will guide partner agencies in strategic planning, fostering a cleaner and greener future for communities in Alberta. By studying the feasibility of zero-emission buses, the project aims to serve as a catalyst for positive change in sustainable transportation practices.
