New ZEV fleet player, Origin Sustainability, hits the road in Kelowna

Origin Sustainability, a newly established Vancouver-based company, is spearheading efforts to revolutionize regional transportation in British Columbia by introducing fully zero-emission electric trucking services. In a market largely dominated by urban rollouts from major players like FedEx and Purolator, Origin is carving its niche by prioritizing sustainability and local service delivery. Launched in January 2023, Origin Sustainability is committed to building a fleet of zero-emission trucks tailored for local regional deliveries, catering to the needs of businesses in the area. The company's vision revolves around providing the Canadian trucking industry with a comprehensive net-zero service, aligning with the nation's sustainability goals.

In a recent development, Origin Sustainability incorporated its inaugural battery-electric vehicle, a Lion Electric Class 6 truck, into its fleet. This zero-emission truck is set to conduct deliveries throughout the picturesque Okanagan Valley, serving clients like Westwood Cabinetry. According to Alex Norman, co-founder of Origin Sustainability, the company's ethos centers on delivering 100% net-zero services to the trucking industry in Canada. This commitment underscores Origin's dedication to environmental responsibility and its ambition to drive positive change in the transportation sector.

By embracing electric vehicles and championing sustainable practices, Origin Sustainability aims to set a precedent for eco-conscious transportation solutions, demonstrating the feasibility and efficacy of zero-emission trucking in regional contexts. The deployment of its first electric truck and the launch of its carbon credits trading program signify significant strides towards realizing this vision and advancing the transition towards a greener future in British Columbia's transportation landscape.
