Montreal wants to anchor a green shipping corridor between Quebec and Newfoundland

In an effort to establish a “green shipping corridor” connecting the Port of Montreal with the Port of St. John’s in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Montreal Port Authority is working with QSL and Oceannex, two of its cargo and shipping partners. Three percent of the world's greenhouse gas emissions come from marine shipping, a percentage that will increase if unchecked.Taking the lead in decarbonization is one of our main goals. In an interview with Electric Autonomy, Guillaume Brossard, vice-president of development, marketing, and international connections at the Port of Montreal, states, "We want to bring our stakeholders all together to walk the talk and be part of this journey with us."A marine route established to reduce greenhouse gas emissions between two or more ports is known as a "green shipping corridor." Energy-efficient infrastructure, zero-emission technology, and fuels are used to achieve this.
