Mercedes-Benz launches Canada-wide EQ-platform EV charging strategy

Mercedes-Benz Canada has unveiled its comprehensive vehicle charging strategy called "Mercedes Me Charge," following its German parent company's commitment to becoming "electric only" by 2030. This initiative aims to provide a clean, digitally integrated, fast, and convenient charging experience for drivers of electric vehicles (EVs) built on the new EQ platform. Starting with the EQS sedan, which will be available in Canada this fall, Mercedes Me Charge will grant access to over 4,900 public charging ports affiliated with major charging providers such as ChargePoint, FLO, and others in Canada. Additionally, there will be 2,400 semi-public ports available at workplaces, malls, and hotels on the ChargePoint network. One of the key features of Mercedes Me Charge is the Plug and Charge functionality, which will be initially available at all ChargePoint stations later this year, with other network providers expected to follow suit. This capability allows drivers to simply plug in their vehicles and begin charging without any further interaction. All charging transactions will be recorded and listed on the owner's monthly invoice, eliminating the need for on-the-spot payment. Mercedes-Benz is actively working with charging providers to create an integrated network and aims to have all chargers in its EQ system. The company is focused on continuous expansion and improvement of its charging infrastructure to ensure the best charging solutions for its customers. This charging strategy reinforces Mercedes-Benz Canada's commitment to enhancing the charging experience for EV owners and promoting electric mobility across the country.
