Loblaw deploys 10 new electric trucks in British Columbia, promises more

With the addition of 10 Freightliner eCascadia trucks in Vancouver and 25 Tesla Semis on order, Loblaw has more than doubled the number of its zero-emission vehicles. The Canadian grocery store Loblaw has added ten additional battery-electric Class 8 trucks to its fleet of zero-emission cars in Vancouver. Velocity Truck Centres, a dealership and service center located in Edmonton, delivered the Freightliner eCascadia electric trucks to Loblaw in December. A division of Daimler Truck North America is called Freightliner. According to a LinkedIn post by Wayne Scott, senior director of maintenance at Loblaw Companies Ltd., "I am thrilled to announce a significant milestone for Loblaws." "This accomplishment is a major step forward in our ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and perfectly aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability." By 2030, Loblaw aims to have a transport fleet with zero emissions, as stated in 2022. The company's broader goal of attaining net-zero carbon emissions throughout the entire business by 2040 is in line with this strategy.
