Isuzu is making a significant foray into electric vehicles (EVs) by simultaneously launching the N-Series EV in Canada, the U.S., and Japan. Described as a "revolutionary product," the Class 5 truck is a fully electric vehicle designed for large-scale production. Powered by 20-kWh lithium-ion battery packs, the N-Series EV offers flexibility in range with three, five, seven, or nine-battery configurations. Estimated ranges vary from 41-80 miles with three batteries to 122-235 miles with nine, depending on factors like driving conditions and vehicle options.
Isuzu's president in Canada, Shaun Skinner, emphasized that actual range would depend on various factors, including the number of battery packs, driving conditions, and temperature. The N-Series EV trucks come with battery capacities ranging from 60 to 180 kWh, offering an AC Level 2 charging time of 5.5 to 10 hours and a DC fast charging time of one to 2.5 hours. This move reflects Isuzu's commitment to advancing electric mobility across diverse markets, marking a significant step toward sustainable transportation solutions in North America and Japan.
