Government offering $300 million in Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund’s first call for proposals

The Canadian federal government has initiated the first call for proposals for the $1.5-billion Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund (CMIF), aimed at supporting projects that contribute to the sustainable development of Canada's critical minerals sector. Over seven years, the fund will finance initiatives focused on expanding mineral production, clean energy, electrification, and investments in clean transportation and related infrastructure. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Jonathan Wilkinson, highlights the strategic importance of the CMIF in fostering the sustainable development of critical minerals in Canada. Applications for funding under the CMIF will remain open until February 29, 2024, with the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) responsible for reviewing proposals to assess private investment potential and potential CIB participation in the projects. This initiative reflects Canada's commitment to advancing its critical minerals sector and promoting sustainable resource development.
