Government of Canada once again reinforces Quebec’s key role in the electric vehicle supply chain

Canada is actively advancing its position in the electric vehicle (EV) industry by collaborating with Volta Energy Solutions Canada Inc. (VESC) on establishing a copper foil facility in Granby. François-Philippe Champagne, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, along with François Legault, Premier of Quebec, and Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Energy, announced their joint efforts in developing a complete domestic battery ecosystem. Copper foils are crucial components in EV batteries, and the new facility will strengthen Canada's standing as a prominent destination for future EV manufacturing. The dedicated plant, focused on high-end battery copper foil production, is anticipated to create and sustain 260 highly skilled jobs. This initiative aligns with Canada's commitment to clean technologies and its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, emphasizing the strategic importance of supporting the domestic EV supply chain for sustainable transportation.
