EV drivers frustrated by inconsistent prices, times at charging stations

As Canada aims for a 100% transition to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2035, the country faces challenges in EV infrastructure, particularly concerning pricing models at charging stations. The Electric Vehicle Association of Alberta's President, William York, highlights the complexity and lack of price transparency in the charging patterns, making it challenging for consumers to compare different charging operators. Canada plans to mandate 20% of all vehicles sold to be EVs by 2026, with a dedicated $1.2 billion investment to build an additional 80,000 chargers over the next three years. While urban areas have readily available chargers, rural areas experience gaps, posing challenges for long-distance travel. As the EV infrastructure develops, some EV owners advocate for increased government regulation to streamline pricing models and enhance transparency for consumers navigating the growing network of charging stations.
