Alexander Dennis, the UK's largest bus manufacturer and a subsidiary of Winnipeg-based NFI Group Inc., is ramping up production of zero-emission double-decker buses in North America in response to increasing demand. The company recently announced a partnership with Big Rig Manufacturing to manufacture 50 Enviro500EV CHARGE buses per year at a new facility in Las Vegas. Big Rig Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Alberta-based Big Rig Collision Group, will collaborate with Alexander Dennis on this initiative. The venture, set to commence operations next year, aims to address the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions by producing electric double-decker buses for the North American market.
In addition to electric buses, the partnership also involves plans to manufacture 50 clean diesel double-decker buses annually. This dual approach reflects the industry's transition towards zero-emission vehicles while acknowledging the continued demand for alternative fuel technologies. By leveraging the expertise and resources of both companies, the partnership seeks to accelerate the adoption of electric buses and contribute to reducing emissions in the transportation sector. The establishment of the new manufacturing facility in Las Vegas underscores the commitment to advancing sustainable mobility solutions and meeting the evolving needs of transit agencies and communities across North America.
