Canada will soon announce an all-EV sales requirement for 2035: reports

Canada is set to unveil new regulations, known as the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard, requiring all vehicles sold in the country to be zero-emission by 2035, as reported by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). The regulations aim to address concerns about external influences, such as the U.S., impacting the supply of zero-emission vehicles in Canada. The move is expected to be announced this week, seeking to ensure that automakers produce a sufficient number of zero-emission vehicles to meet the anticipated demand. The Toronto Star reported that the regulations will stipulate zero-emission vehicles constituting 20% of all new car transactions by 2026, 60% by 2030, and reaching 100% by 2035. The objective is to reduce wait times for electric vehicles (EVs) and ensure the supply is directed towards the Canadian market, ensuring broader accessibility and quicker availability of EVs for consumers across provinces. The announcement is part of Canada's strategy to accelerate the adoption of clean transportation and contribute to achieving the national target of 100% zero-emission vehicle sales by 2035.
