Canada has improved its regulatory policies related to electric vehicles (EVs), moving up one spot to 10th place in the EV Readiness Index ranking. The country has set ambitious EV goals, including a 100% target for new EV sales and net-zero emissions by 2050. In Q1 2023, 8.6% of new vehicle registrations were zero-emissions vehicles (ZEVs), and ZEV registrations reached a record 10.5% in Q2. To support these goals, Canada and other governments are actively promoting EV adoption through subsidies, incentives, and electrification targets. Governments are also increasing funding and forming partnerships to boost battery ecosystem growth.
